On September 24, the overseas EP project undertaken by MCC Huatian — the 35,000 m³ converter gas storage and distribution station for Permai Metal (Indonesia) Steelmaking Project — was successfully commissioned. Up to now, the gas holder equipment operates steadily, and all performance indicators meet design specifications and contractual technical requirements. The project demonstrates MCC Huatian’s mature proprietary core technologies in the gas holder sector and its capability to deliver overseas projects.
The scope of this EP project covers the 35,000 m³ converter gas storage and distribution station for the steelmaking project, integrating engineering design, equipment supply and on-site technical guidance. Upon full operation, the station enables efficient recovery of converter gas and optimizes production energy consumption, supporting the client to build a benchmark intelligent and green steel enterprise in Indonesia.
Located on Indonesia’s coastal area, the site features year-round high temperature and humidity with prominent risks of infectious diseases such as dengue fever, creating harsh conditions for outdoor construction. Faced with multiple challenges of cross-border operations, including variable working conditions, differences in process and operational standards, delayed equipment delivery, communication barriers between Chinese and local teams and frequent unexpected issues, the project team from the Industrial Environment & Energy Branch remained on-site overseas. The team closely monitored key procedures such as main equipment installation, pipe network connection and system commissioning. When unexpected problems involving installation quality emerged, the team reviewed drawings overnight, optimized construction plans and implemented targeted rectification to ensure high-quality and efficient project delivery. The successful commissioning has won unanimous recognition from the client. It verifies the strong adaptability of MCC Huatian’s gas holder technology to complex overseas working conditions, accumulates experience in overseas project delivery, localized management and on-site technical problem-solving, and builds a high-caliber overseas technical team capable of tackling tough tasks.
